Places to visit in Ganja

Ganja is one of Azerbaijan's most beautiful cities, known for its history, culture, and natural beauty. It was the capital of Azerbaijan back in the day and was a big deal for centuries. Historical Places

Ganja has lots of old history stuff. The city has monuments, mausoleums and old buildings from way back. Visit these places and you'll get what Ganja was all about. Trade, culture, politics - this city was important.

Javad Khan Mausoleum

Built over Javad Khan's grave. He was the last khan of Ganja. They wanted to remember him. It's built in Arran style, square shape with red bricks. Has an arched entrance and three windows with colorful glass.

Nizami Ganjavi Mausoleum

This place is for Azerbaijan's famous poet Nizami Ganjavi. One of Ganja's most famous spots. Has a big park around it and the building looks amazing. Shows how important this poet still is. You can check out stuff about Nizami's life too.

Shah Abbas Caravanserai

This is one of those rare old buildings in Azerbaijan. Medieval stuff that travelers used to visit when they came to Ganja. Still looks like it did back then. Now they use it for cultural events and exhibitions.

Bottle House

This place is really unique. Locals and tourists all know about it. First floor was built in 1952 with river stones and red bricks. Second floor has 43,800 bottles of different sizes and colors, fish bones from the Black Sea, small stones from Sochi, colored glass and little mirrors. Ibrahim Jafarov from Ganja built this for his brother Yusif who went missing in World War II.

Alexander Nevsky Church

Russian Orthodox church built in 1887. Byzantine style with plinth bricks. Both Orthodox and Muslim locals helped pay for it. Good example of Russian Orthodox buildings and lots of people visit it.

Imamzadeh Mausoleum

Old religious complex and one of Ganja's ancient spots. Locals and tourists visit this place a lot. The blue dome with peacock designs and flowers really catches your eye.

Nature

Ganja has amazing nature and beautiful landscapes. Lakes, parks, forests all around with great views. Different colors every season. Ganja's nature gives you another reason to love this city.

Goygol

40 km from Ganja and nature lovers go crazy for this place. Mountains and forests all around this blue lake. Clear water and peaceful vibes. Thousands of people come here every year to see this natural gem.

Maralgol

Göygöl Milli Parkının yaxınlığında yerləşən Maralgöl təbiətin başqa bir incəsidir. Gölün ətrafı sıx meşələrlə örtülüb və buraya gələnlər təbiətin səssizliyində rahatlıq tapır. Gün batımında Maralgöl mənzərəsi fotoqraflar üçün əsl möcüzədir.

Khan Garden

One of the oldest parks in the Caucasus. 3 hectares with different plants and trees. Beautiful all year long. Gets crowded during the day but still feels calm.

Heydar Aliyev Park Complex

450 hectares in Ganja and one of the five biggest parks in the world. Walking paths, fountains and an artificial lake. Perfect for families and outdoor events.

Ganja Cuisine

When you visit Ganja you have to try traditional dishes like Ganja dovga, kete and Shah plov. Ganja dovga is made different here - no chickpeas like other places. Instead it has mint, spinach, celery and eggs. Kete comes with meat or white cheese and herbs, sprinkled with sumac and barberry. Usually big and filling.
