Pricing policy of Azerbaijan Airlines
The dynamic pricing policy is applied to all international flights of “Azerbaijan Airlines.” This means that the cost of a ticket for a particular destination may vary depending on the departure date, the ticket purchase date, the seasonal schedule, flight frequency, and the number of available seats on the flight.
This ticket pricing system is an internationally recognized and effective practice that allows airlines to maximize load factors on specific flights while also reserving seats for categories of passengers who need to travel for urgent reasons.
AZAL’s tariff policy provides for several booking classes on each flight, each with a predetermined ticket price—from the lowest to the highest. The cheapest fares are sold first, and as seats on the aircraft are filled, the price of each subsequent fare class increases. This system encourages passengers to purchase tickets in advance and allows the airline to ensure a sufficient number of passengers on each flight.
Fare classes should not be confused with service classes—such as economy class or business class. Each service class may include several fare (tariff) classes, which can differ in terms of ticket refundability or exchange conditions.
It is also worth noting that the airline’s expenses have increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, mainly due to rising fuel costs, increased airport ground handling fees for aircraft disinfection, and other contributing factors.
