Carriage of Pregnant Women, Postpartum Women and Newborns:

Carriage of a pregnant woman, a postpartum woman, or a newborn baby should be coordinated beforehand with the airline, at the time of ticket purchasing and seat booking.

It is the pregnant woman's responsibility to determine whether air travel is suitable for her. She should carefully consider any potential health risks to herself and her (newborn or unborn) baby, based on their medical condition.

The following persons are not allowed to “Azerbaijan Airlines” CJSC flights:

Pregnant women after the 32-nd week of pregnancy;

Postpartum women during 7 days after giving birth;

Only the babies older than 7 days old are accepted on “Azerbaijan Airlines” CJSC flights in the prescribed manner – the baby must be accompanied by the mother, father, or another passenger taking responsibility for the baby.

The rules of issuing documents for pregnant women, postpartum women, and newborn babies:

Based on the information provided verbally by the pregnant passenger during check-in, If the pregnancy is up to 26 weeks, the passenger must personally complete and sign a declaration releasing the airline from liability during the carriage of pregnant women. In this case, a certificate from the attending physician regarding pregnancy and health status is not required.

If the period of a passenger's pregnancy is declared as between 26 and 32 weeks (inclusive), the passenger must personally complete and sign the above-mentioned declaration releasing airline from liability for the carriage of pregnant women, and also provide a certificate of pregnancy and health status.

Such a certificate must be issued by a medical treatment facility and stamped by the attending (practicing) physician of the passenger. The certificate must include information about the term of pregnancy, its form (singleton or multiple pregnancy), the nature of its course (normal or complicated), and confirmation of the absence of pregnancy-related pathologies, as well as the absence of any risk of miscarriage or premature birth that would prevent air travel.

For the transportation of a newborn baby, a birth certificate (maternity hospital certificate) must be submitted. For a baby older than 7 days, a certificate confirming their health condition is not required.

The carrier agrees to transport a pregnant woman, postpartum woman, or newborn baby to the first destination point (where “AZAL” is the operating) and does not take responsibility for any refusal by another carrier to continue transportation. The carrier accepts no liability for any deterioration in the health of a pregnant woman, postpartum woman, or newborn baby, or for any undesirable or negative situations occurring during or after the flight. These transportation rules apply at the time of issuing air transportation (including return flights to Azerbaijan—either on board the aircraft or through “Azerbaijan Airlines” CJSC representatives in foreign countries).
