One of the leaders in the aviation community

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) CJSC is the leading civil aviation organization in Azerbaijan. Its mission includes strategic planning, compliance with international safety and quality standards, the adoption of innovative technologies, and the development of the country’s aviation infrastructure.

AZAL CJSC plays a central role in coordinating and modernizing the aviation sector, building a strong foundation for Azerbaijan’s successful integration into the global aviation community.

AZAL’s international recognition is confirmed not only by Skytrax and World Airline Awards, but also by the receipt of international certifications in 2024: ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System), and ISO 45001:2018 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System). These achievements reflect the company’s consistent efforts in environmental protection, employee health, and quality management.

In the same year, AZAL hosted high-level aviation sessions within COP29, followed in 2025 by the successful organization of the IATA Aviation Energy Forum (AEF) in Baku — the first event of its kind in the Caucasus and Caspian region.

Sustainability is a core pillar of AZAL’s strategy. In January 2024, the airline joined the UN Global Compact and launched its ESG agenda. Over the past three years, it has published annual Sustainability Reports, setting clear targets for reducing carbon emissions and achieving Net/Near Zero goals. AZAL further strengthened its environmental credentials by joining IATA’s CO₂ Connect platform and the IEnvA (IATA Environmental Assessment) program — reinforcing its reputation as a responsible and reliable partner in the global aviation industry.
