Terms and Conditions of service

  • These Terms and Conditions (hereinafter “Terms”) will be applied to the submission of offers to upgrade a ticket purchased for economy class to a business/premium class ticket on an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) flight (hereinafter “AZAL Upgrade”). Azerbaijan Airlines has the right to change these Terms at any time.
  • AZAL Upgrade service is available on certain flights, under selected booking classes in accordance with internal rules or procedures as determined by AZAL and at its sole discretion.
  • If your booking contains multiple passengers, the upgrade offer will be applied to all passengers included in the booking. If you wish to upgrade only some passengers, please split the booking by contacting our customer service center. Once the booking is split, you can submit the upgrade offer via the website and mobile apps, for the desired passengers.
  • The person submitting the offer must be of legal age (over the age of 18). The passenger that submits an offer will be deemed to have the authority to act on behalf of and to bind all passengers in same booking to the offer and these Terms and Conditions.
  • The offer amount of the upgrade is based on the route and the fare type purchased by the passenger. Amounts vary according to availability and flight dates. The Offer amount will be calculated on a per passenger basis i.e. the amount stated in an offer will be multiplied by the number of passengers in the booking.
  • Passengers traveling with pets or group reservations are not eligible to purchase an upgrade.
  • Eligible passengers may be invited to participate in ‘AZAL Upgrade’, in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, through the following means:
    • by email invitation no less than ten days prior to departure of the first sector of a booking
    • at the AZAL website’s “AZAL Upgrade” page or at the Manage My Booking page, by entering eligible passengers’ booking reference and family name.
  • Deadline to submit an offer: Passengers may submit an offer up to 14 hours before departure.
  • Deadline to change or cancel an offer: Passengers who have submitted an offer may change or cancel their offer up to 14 hours before departure or until the offer gets approved, whichever comes first.
  • The passengers can instantly upgrade to business class or Premium Economy by paying specified amount, instead of submitting a bid. If you see the button with the “Instant Upgrade” option, this means that an upgrade to Business Class or Premium Economy is available for your flight.
  • Instant Upgrades cannot be modified since they are confirmed immediately after purchase.
  • It is hereby clarified that if a passenger cancels or changes the flight to another flight after the upgrade has been confirmed, said passenger will not be entitled to a refund for the upgrade and the upgrade eligibility cannot be transferred to a flight at another time or to another person.
  • Before your flight, Azerbaijan Airlines will determine the space available in Business Class and will evaluate your bid between 96 and 14 hours prior to the departure of the flight. You will receive an e-mail at the e-mail address you provided, notifying you whether you received the upgrade.
  • If an Offer is accepted by AZAL, the total amount of money payable for the upgrade, including all applicable taxes, surcharges and fees (if any), will be deducted from the credit card used to make payment automatically. Payment will only be deducted if the Offer is successful. The amount of money payable in relation to an Offer for upgrade is separate from and additional to the amount paid for the original ticket purchased. In case of insufficient funds or payment issue the customer will be notified by email regarding re-attempt. The re-attempt option will be possible until 14 hours prior to departure time.
  • This is to clarify that AZAL reserves the right to cancel the upgrade due to unexpected changes. If AZAL cancels an upgrade as mentioned, the passenger will receive a full refund to the credit card used for the upgrade payment. The passengers will also be rebooked in their original class, subject to seat availability at the time of rebooking. Please note that AZAL does not guarantee the passenger will be reassigned to its originally booked seat before the upgrade.
  • If you purchase an upgrade, Azerbaijan Airlines cannot guarantee a specific seat assignment in Business Class or Premium Economy. Your seat assignment will depend on space availability. The passengers can choose their seats using “Manage my booking” service on website and mobile apps.
  • When the passenger is already upgraded with AZAL Upgrade service, the previously purchased comfortable seats in economy, cannot be provided in a higher class, thus Azerbaijan Airlines shall not be obliged to refund passenger for the costs associated with its purchase.
  • AZAL will reasonably endeavour, but is unable to guarantee, to provide upgraded passengers with services typically available to other passengers of the cabin class to which the Offer has been accepted e.g. priority check-in, priority baggage, priority boarding, onboard meals, etc.In case if the passenger has chosen special meal during the booking, AZAL might not be able to provide the meal according to the upgraded cabin.
  • If the upgrade offer is accepted, ticket conditions will remain the same as in the original booking, prior to the upgrade, including minimum and maximum stay conditions, listed travel class, fees and conditions for cancellation and changes etc. In addition, products purchased before the upgrade might be not refunded.
  • Points for AZAL Miles frequent flyer program members who register and receive approval for their upgrade will be calculated according to the original class in which the booking was made and not according to the business or premium class in which the passenger actually traveled.
  • AZAL reserves the right to change the above-listed terms and conditions at any time, at its sole discretion.
