AZAL MILES - Frequent Flyer Programme

Azerbaijan Airlines provides its members with the opportunity to enjoy benefits and Reward Flights for choosing Azerbaijan Airlines as their preferred travel provider. 

Member benefits are determined by the membership tier that the member has qualified for. Members of the AZAL MILES programme qualify for higher tiers with more benefits based on the amount and value of the air tickets purchased from and flown with Azerbaijan Airlines.  There are four levels, Classic, Silver, Gold and Platinum, each level has a set of membership benefits associated with each level.

Member Benefits

Platinum Membership

Status Rules

1)      AZAL MILES Platinum members enjoy two years of guaranteed access to Platinum benefits. In order to retain platinum member status, platinum members must earn 30,000 status points during their two year membership term in order to maintain platinum status.

2)      Platinum Members who do not earn 30,000 Status points will be awarded Gold status for the following year of membership.

3)      Platinum members receive a Platinum Membership card that is valid for two years; this card will be renewed if the member has earned the required number of Status Points during their two years of membership.

Status Benefits

1)      Platinum members earn extra Travel Points on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights. Platinum members earn 3 Travel Points per Euro of base fare paid for an Azal flight; this excludes taxes, airport charges and any surcharges.

2)      Platinum membership is guaranteed for two full membership years

3)      Platinum members can enjoy priority boarding on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights.

4)      Platinum members can enjoy priority check in on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights.

5)      Travel during the month of the member’s birthday will earn double Travel points on all flights taken during the month.

6)      Platinum members enjoy priority status on reservation waiting lists where flights are full.

7)     Platinum Card members of AZAL-Miles Frequently Flyer Programme together with their child and one family member (parent/ spouse or child under 12 ) can enjoy access to the Business Lounge in all international airports only by providing Platinum Member Card with their boarding passes to the international flights of “Azerbaijan Airlines” Closed Joint Stock Company. 

8)      Platinum members are entitled to 1 additional piece of checked baggage weighing up to 23kg.The sum of three dimensions of baggage (H х W х L) must not exceed 158cm.

9)    Change of departure date and time for Reward Ticket flights is FREE of charge as long as the change is done before the flight departure.

10)   Platinum members are provided with a personal concierge for International departure flights from Baku, HeydarAliyevAirport; which will offer the following services:

  • Meet member when arriving at the airport
  • Assist members with baggage that is to be checked in
  • Escort member through security to the business lounge and take any orders

Gold Membership

Status Rules

1)      AZAL MILES Gold members must earn 6,000 status points during a membership year in order to maintain Gold status.

2)      Gold Members who do not earn 6,000 Status points during a membership year will be awarded Silver status for the following year of membership.

3)      Gold Members, who earn 20,000 status points or more in a membership year, will be upgraded to Platinum status for the following two years of membership.

Status Benefits

1)      Gold members earn extra travel points on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights.  Gold Members will earn 2 Travel Points per Euro of base fare paid for an Azal flight; this excludes taxes, airport charges and any surcharges.

2)      Gold members can enjoy priority boarding on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights.

3)      Gold members can enjoy priority check in on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights.

4)     Travel during the month of the member’s birthday will earn double Travel points on all flights taken during the month.

5)      Gold members enjoy priority status on reservation waiting lists where flights are full.

6)     Gold Card members of AZAL-Miles Frequently Flyer Programme together with their child and one family member (parent/ spouse or child under 12 ) can enjoy access to the Business Lounge at Heydar Aliyev Airport only by providing Gold Member Card with their boarding passes to the international flights of “Azerbaijan Airlines” Closed Joint Stock Company.

7)      Gold members are entitled to 1 additional piece of checked in baggage weighing up to 23kg. The sum of three dimensions of baggage (H х W х L) must not exceed 158cm.

8)      Gold members receive a Gold Membership card on the anniversary of their membership year, assuming they have earned the required number of Status Points during the membership year.

9)    Change of departure date and time for Reward Ticket flights is FREE of charge as long as the change is done before the flight departure..

 

Silver Members

Status Rules

  1. AZAL MILES Silver members must earn 3,750 status points during a membership year in order to maintain Silver status.
  2. Members who do not earn 3,750 status points during a membership year will be awarded Classic status for the following year of membership.
  3. Silver Members who earn 10,000 status points or more during a membership year will be upgraded to Gold status for the following year of membership.

Status Benefits

1)      Silver members earn extra travel points on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights. Silver Members will earn 1.25 Travel Points per Euro of base fare paid for an Azal flight; this excludes taxes, airport charges and any surcharges.

2)      Travel during the month of the member’s birthday will earn double Travel points on all flights taken during the month.

3)      Silver members receive a Silver Membership card on the anniversary of their membership year, assuming they have earned the required number of Status Points during the membership year.

4)      Change of departure date and time for Reward Ticket flights is FREE of charge as long as the change is done before the flight departure.

Classic Membership

Status Rules

1)      Customers must complete the registration process to become an AZAL MILES Classic member. As Classic status is the base membership, customers do not need any status points to join or maintain status, although membership will lapse if no flight is taken over a period of 36 months.

2)      AZAL MILES Classic members, who earn 5,000 status points or more in a membership year, will be upgraded to Silver status for the following year of membership.

3)      Classic members receive a virtual membership card via the AZAL MILES mobile app and or the AZAL MILES Web Site.

Status Benefits

1)      Classic members earn status points on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights as per the published rates.

2)      Classic members will earn 1 Travel Point per Euro of base fare paid for an Azal flight; this excludes taxes, airport charges and any surcharges.

3)      Travel during the month of the member’s birthday will earn double Travel points on all flights taken during the month.

Programme Rules

Membership Agreement:

1.1.                The Terms and Conditions below set out the contractual relationship between Azerbaijan Airlines and each individual Member of the AZAL MILES programme.

Definitions

1.2.                Frequent Flyer Number

1.3.                “AZAL” – Azerbaijan Airlines

1.4.                “Reward Flights” are free flight tickets or ticket upgrades, (excluding taxes, airport charges and surcharges), awarded to members of the AZAL MILES programme in exchange for the Travel Points earned by the member

1.5.                “Status Points” are points earned when traveling with Azerbaijan Airlines on valid flights and at rates published on the Azal website.’ Status Points are used to determine membership level and therefore qualification for benefits offered by the programme.

1.6.                “Travel Points” are points earned when traveling with Azerbaijan Airlines on valid flights. The number of ‘Travel Points’ awarded is determined by the basic fare paid, (excluding taxes, airport charges and any surcharges) and the membership level. ‘Travel Points’ can be used by members to apply for free flights and ticket upgrades as per the published terms and conditions.

Membership:

1.7.                Every applicant must be over the age of 12 to participate in the programme

1.8.                Membership in the programme is free of charge

1.9.                To apply for Membership of AZAL MILES, an individual must register online at Azal.com or use the AZAL MILES Mobile Application.

1.10.            Membership is subject to all mandatory fields being completed in full, including a valid email address that will be used to validate the application. The mailing address provided will be the address that subsequent membership cards will be delivered to (Silver, Gold or Platinum).

1.11.            Applications accepted will be given a Membership number 

1.12.            Membership Cards are provided only to members in Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers.

1.13.            All New Members will be automatically enrolled as Classic members and will be provided with a virtual card.

1.14.            Members shall participate in the programme on an individual basis.

1.15.            Members of the AZAL MILES programme will be given a personal account to which awarded points are collected. The account and earned points of a member shall not under any circumstances be transmitted, inherited, served in mutual settlements, be transferred or combined with other accounts and points of another person whether that person is a party to the programme or not. The points shall not be converted into cash. Under no circumstances can family members or members of one and the same organisation accumulate points in one account.

1.16.            An applicant’s membership is effective from the date of acceptance of the membership application. A member’s account is initially set up as a registered account that can earn points only on all qualifying flights. A members account becomes fully active, and able to both earn and redeem points, when registration is completed by clicking the activate link in the email received after membership registration.

1.17.            Membership enrolment is the date a member joins the programme (registered).

1.18.            Membership for Classic members is valid until and unless the membership lapses, (no flights taken in 36 months period), or the member has been upgraded to Silver, Gold or Platinum status.

1.19.            Silver and Gold membership is annual running from the date of awarding up to the next full year anniversary of the original enrolment date.

1.20.            Platinum membership is for two years from the date of awarding up to the second full year anniversary of the original enrolment date.

1.21.            All correspondence will be sent to the member’s registered email address provided upon application in accordance with clause 1.10.

1.22.            AZAL MILES reserves the right to provide information associated with membership of the AZAL MILES programme to all members using email or updates on the AZAL MILES website.

1.23.             AZAL MILES will not be responsible for late, lost or any email or mail that is misdirected.

1.24.            Classic membership will terminate and points expire automatically if there is no activity (Travel point’s accrual) on the account for a period of 36.

1.25.            The member must notify the airline of any changes in personal details including address, telephone or email by keeping the personal profile update through the member’s website. A valid email address is a condition of membership; any members found without a valid email address will have their account suspended for redemption until a new email address is validated.

1.26.            The member must notify in writing or present themselves at an Azal office of any change to their Name or Passport Number, providing evidence of identification.

1.27.            In the event of loss of the card, the member can request a new card via the member’s website. A duplicate card will be issued within 20 days from receipt of the application.

1.28.            Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to exclude any member from the programme, withdraw a member’s card and cancel all the points earned if the member breaches the rules and conditions of the programme.

1.29            Where, in the sole opinion of Azerbaijan Airlines, any AZAL MILES member violates air safety regulations, the member will  forfeit their membership, in such cases, all accrued points and benefits will be withdrawn/cancelled.

Use of the Membership Card

1.30.            Membership cards will be issued to members of Silver, Gold or Platinum levels

1.31.            Membership cards will be personalised with the member name and  displayed on the face of the card together with a date of validity.

1.32.            Only the member named on the card may use the card.

1.33.            The member should provide their  whenever they purchase an Azal ticket or to access any of the services available for their membership level.

1.34.            Delivery of a membership card will take approximately 20 days from enrolment or request for replacement.

Tier Status

1.35.            Entitlement to Silver, Gold or Platinum status is determined by the number of ‘Status’ Points earned during a membership year.

1.36.            Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right from time to time to change the number of ‘Status Points’ required to maintain or attain a new Tier Level, but will inform all members in advance of any such changes.

1.37.            Member Tier status will be reviewed before the anniversary of the enrolment date and before the expiry of this date. ‘Status’ points collected throughout the membership year will be counted toward the qualifying balance required to maintain the existing Tier. At the end of the membership year the ‘Status Points’ balance returns to zero (0).

1.38.            The membership Tier level will be changed to the next lowest level if the required number of ‘Status Points’ have not been earned in the previous membership year.

1.39.            Membership upgrade can be achieved at any time during the membership year, upon achievement of the qualifying ‘Status Points’ required.  Membership to the next level is immediate upon reaching the required number of ‘Status Points’. Azerbaijan Airlines will inform you of your upgrade and will automatically send you a membership card for the appropriate new membership Level.

1.40.            Upon upgrade to a new membership level, the members ‘Status Points’ balance remains valid and can be further increased through the collection of more ‘Status Points’. The ‘Status Points’ balance will only be reset at the end of the membership year as per clause 1.36

1.41.            Following upgrade to the next membership level, at the anniversary of the membership year, the member will maintain the new membership level and will be  required to earn the required number of ‘Status Points’ during the next membership year in order to maintain for the membership level for the following membership year.

Travel Points

1.42.            ‘Travel Points’ can be earned by members whenever they travel with tickets or upgrades purchased from and used with a valid Azerbaijan Airlines flight.

1.43.            Azerbaijan Airlines is pleased to offer members the opportunity to earn ‘Travel Points’ from selected partners of the airline. Full details of such opportunities can be found on the Azal website.

1.44.            ‘Travel Points’ are earned according to the value of the base fare of tickets purchased and used, excluding taxes, airport charges and surcharges, at a rate  of 1 ‘Travel Point’ for every 1 Euro paid.

1.45.            For Silver, Gold and Platinum members, the ‘Travel Points’ rate of earning is higher depending on the membership Level. See Member Benefits

1.46.            Members can earn ‘Travel Points’ by quoting their  or presenting their membership card when purchasing air tickets and upgrades from Azerbaijan Airlines or any of its partners.

1.47.             ‘Travel Points’ will be added to the member’s membership account within 7 working days (except public holidays) after the flight was taken.

1.48.            ‘Travel Points’ can be redeemed for flights and flight upgrades with Azerbaijan Airlines.

1.49.            ‘Travel Points’ added incorrectly shall be considered invalid and will be cancelled.

1.50.            Since January 1st  2017, members registered in the program have the opportunity to restore their points over the past 180 days for flying committed to participate in the program.

1.51.            ‘Travel Points’ will not be awarded:

For unused travel (including cancellation of a flight)

For flights on free service tickets

For charter flights

For flights operated with partner airlines

For the promotional or seasonal tickets

For class upgrade service (if a passenger does the additional payment ) during check-in at the airports or on board if there are available seats.

Status Points

1.52.            ‘Status Points’ are earned on each flight booked with Azerbaijan Airlines

1.53.            The number of ‘Status Points’ earned is determined by the destination and the class of travel. The number of points added under the programme is indicated in the table of ‘Status Points’, found at www.Azal.az

1.54.            ‘Status Points’ are earned by the member in order to maintain or upgrade through the status levels (Silver, Gold and Platinum) See Status Points Table on the web site for full details

1.55.            ‘Status Points’ are only earned on Azerbaijan Airlines flights purchased directly from Azerbaijan Airlines and its agents.

1.56.            Members can earn ‘Status Points’ by quoting their  or presenting their membership card when purchasing air tickets and upgrades.

1.57.            ‘Status Points’ added incorrectly shall be considered invalid and will be cancelled.

1.58.            Members can only earn ‘Status Points’ from the date of their enrolment.

1.59.            ‘Status Points’ will not be awarded:

For unused travel (including cancellation of a flight)

For flights on free service tickets

For charter flights

For flights operated with partner airlines

For the promotional or seasonal tickets

For class upgrade service (if a passenger does the additional payment ) during check-in at the airports or on board if there are available seats.

AZAL MILES Programme

1.60.            Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to cancel or alter all or part of the AZAL MILES programme at any time without prior notice

1.61.            In case of cancellation of the programme, all points earned by members may be cancelled; Azerbaijan Airlines will notify members of changes or cancellation of the programme by email and by publishing such notice through their website.

Points Expiry Rules

Status Points Expiry:

1.62.            For all members excluding Platinum members, ‘Status Points’ expire at the end of each membership year, (the last day of the month in which membership was first applied for). For Platinum members, ‘Status Points’ expire at the end of their guaranteed two year membership period.

1.63.            ‘Status Points’ cannot be transferred or shared with any other member and are personal to the member who used the purchased ticket.

1.64.            Bookings for partners, friends or family will not earn ‘Status Points’ for the member who booked/paid.

Travel Points Expiry:

1.65.            ‘Travel Points’ can be earned immediately from the date of successful membership registration to the programme and added to the membership account after the booked flight was travelled.

1.66.            Redemption of ‘Travel Points’ can take place only after the membership account has been activated, meaning an email confirmation following registration.

1.67.            The Travel points accrued to the balance, in the case of non-use for 36 months (from the date of the accrual account), will be will be canceled at the end of the month accrual.

1.68.            ‘Travel Points’ are personal to the member who used the purchased ticket.

1.69.            Bookings for partners, friends or family will not earn Travel points for the member who booked/paid for the ticket.

General Information

1.70.            When purchasing a ticket, the passenger must quote their  or present the AZAL MILES membership card confirming his/her membership in the “AZAL MILES” programme to the ticket sales agent.

1.71.            Taxes, airport charges and surcharges, shall be paid by the member on all ticket purchased including tickets obtained by point’s redemption.

1.72.            ‘Travel Points’ will not be awarded for any unused travel...

1.73.            In the event that either ‘Travel Points’ or ‘Status Points’ are not added correctly to the members account, the member shall submit a ‘missing points’ application including copies of tickets or boarding card. Applications for missing points will be accepted from 7 working days after the flight and up to 180 days from the date of the flight.

Legal Terms

1.74.            Taking into account that the legislation of some countries may envisage restrictions on the application of Frequent Flyer programmes to encourage passengers, Azerbaijan Airlines, in order to comply with such legislation, reserves the right to change the legal requirements for programme members or change the programme content to meet such legislative requirements of the country without prior notice to the members.

1.75.            The provision of air tickets in exchange for Travel Points is regulated by the main rules of the carrier. Azerbaijan Airlines shall not be liable for damages (material and moral) resulting from the use of such tickets with the exception of the damage caused during air travel. The damage caused in international air transport shall be reimbursed in the manner prescribed by the Warsaw Convention of 1929, as amended at The Hague in 1955, and other international treaties to which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a signatory, as well as the rules of Azerbaijan Airlines.

Reward Flights

1.76.            To redeem ‘Travel Points’ for a Reward Flight, the member must apply through a travel agent or a branch office of Azerbaijan Airlines and complete the necessary application form.

1.77.            Members are permitted to change the departure date on Reward Flights before the departure only in accordance with the respective benefits of the appropriate Tier level. 

1.78.           Classic, Silver, Gold and Platinum card holders of AZAL-Miles Programme can change departure time and date of reward tickets after departure by paying 75 EUR (OW). Cancellation and refund of a reward ticket is not allowed at any time.

1.79.            A change of departure date and time for a Reward Ticket flight for Classic members before the flight departure is allowed and is subject to a fee of €50 per flight segment.

1.80.            Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to limit the number of Reward Flights on certain or all flights.

1.81.            Members Reward Flights cannot be issued to any third party, only to the member who earned the ‘Travel Points’.

1.82.            Unused Reward Flights are non-returnable to the airline, and ‘Travel Points’ will not be returned to the members account.

1.83.            All applicable taxes, airport charges and surcharges for Reward Flights must be paid by the member.

1.84.            Members may use ‘Travel Points’ for a service-class upgrade in accordance with the Service Upgrade table published on the Azal website.

1.85.            Members must apply for a service-class upgrade, at either a sales agency or office of Azerbaijan Airlines and complete the necessary application form.

1.86.            A service-class upgrade is possible only for paid economy class "Y" tickets.

1.87.            Travel Points and Status Points will only be awarded for the paid portion of a service-class upgraded ticket.

1.88.            Change of departure date, for tickets with the service-class upgrade, is permitted before departure only and in accordance with the respective benefits of the appropriate membership level.  Fees may apply for such changes.

1.89.            Service-Class Upgrades awarded in exchange for ‘Travel Points’,  may not be reassigned to a third person and are for the exclusive enjoyment of the member who earned the ‘Travel Points’.

1.90.            Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to limit the number of service-class upgrade tickets on certain or all flights.

1.91.            Where a customer wishes to cancel an economy ticket which has been subsequently upgraded using ‘Travel Points’, it will be refunded in accordance with the standard economy class refund rules. ‘Travel Points’ that have been redeemed for a class upgrade will also be refunded to the member account following confirmation of the original ticket refund. The refund will be applied according to the rules for economy-class refunds, while ‘Travel Points’ will be returned to the member.

1.92.        In accordance with the latest changes about redemption of Travel Points in the AZAL-Miles frequent flyers program, when the passengers who have purchased reward ticket with  “A” Business Class want to change the flight date and if there is not “A” Business Class on the changed date, the passengers can change their tickets with “Z” VIP Club - Class subtracting the difference of the points between two classes.

Other Provisions

1.93.            In the event of a lost or stolen AZAL MILES Membership Card the Member must immediately notify Azerbaijan Airlines either in writing or using the ‘Contact Us’ section of the Member website. Azerbaijan Airlines shall not bear any responsibility for improper use of the Members card.

1.94.            Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to exclude from the programme Members who abuse the Member rules, provide inaccurate information, or have not earned ‘Travel Points’ or ‘Status Points’ in the last 36 months.

1.95.            Members excluded from the programme may be permitted to apply for new membership at the sole discretion of Azerbaijan Airlines.

1.96.            In the event of exclusion of a Member from the programme, all the earned ‘Travel Points’ and ‘Status Points’ shall be cancelled and shall not be refunded.

Liability Restrictions of Azerbaijan Airlines

1.97.            Reward Flights shall be provided as far as is permitted by flight restrictions. Azerbaijan Airlines shall not bear any responsibility for the impossibility to provide a Reward Flight and will at its sole discretion decide on the basis of circumstances when a Reward Flight cannot be honoured, whether it will return all the ‘Travel Points’ used to apply for said Reward Flight.

1.98.            Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to prohibit provision of a Reward Flight at a certain time period and/or on certain flights.

1.99.            ‘Travel Points’ earned by a member are not the member’s property, and therefore, shall not be reassigned or invested for any other purpose.

For flights operated jointly with partner airlines of Azerbaijan Airlines

2.01.            Reward Flights and upgrades awarded for the exchange of ‘Travel Points’ do not apply to flights operated jointly with partner airlines of Azerbaijan Airlines.

2.02.            ‘Travel Points’ and ‘Status Points’ cannot be earned on charter flights and flights of other airlines. AZAL MILES programme benefits are provided only for flights operated by Azerbaijan Airlines.
