AZAL-Miles - frequent flyer programme
Azerbaijan Airlines provides its members with the opportunity to enjoy benefits for choosing Azerbaijan Airlines as their preferred travel provider.
Member benefits are determined by the membership tier that the member has qualified for. Members of the AZAL-Miles programme can qualify for higher tiers with more benefits based on service class and destinations of purchased ticket on Azerbaijan Airlines flights. There are three levels, Classic, Gold and Platinum, each level has a set of membership benefits depending upon each level.
Member benefits
Platinum
Status rules
1) AZAL-Miles Platinum members enjoy two years of guaranteed access to Platinum benefits. In order to retain Platinum member status, members have to earn 30000 status points during their two years of membership.
2) Platinum members who do not earn 30000 status points will be downgraded to Gold status for the following year of membership.
3) Platinum members receive a Platinum membership card that is valid for two years. This card will be renewed if the member has earned the required number of status points during their two years of membership.
4) Accrued travel points are valid for 36 months from the date of accrual to the balance.
Status benefits
1) Platinum members can earn 3 travel points on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights. Points are accrued for each euro of base fare excluding taxes and airport charges.
2) Platinum membership is guaranteed for two full membership years.
3) Platinum members can enjoy priority boarding on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights.
4) Platinum members can enjoy priority check in on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights.
5) While travelling during the member’s birthday month, member can earn double travel points on all flights.
6) Platinum members enjoy priority status on reservation waiting lists where flights are full.
7) Platinum card holders of AZAL-Miles frequently flyer programme together with their child and one family member (parent/ spouse or child under 12) can enjoy access to the business lounge in all international airports only by providing Platinum card/membership number with their boarding passes on the international flights of Azerbaijan Airlines Closed Joint Stock Company.
8) Platinum members are entitled to 1 additional piece of checked baggage weighing up to 23kg on flights of Azerbaijan Airlines. The sum of three dimensions of baggage (H х W х L) must not exceed 158 sm.
9) Change of departure date and time for reward tickets is FREE of charge as long as the change is done before the flight departure.
10) Platinum members are provided with a personal concierge for International departure flights from Baku, Heydar Aliyev Airport; which will offer the following services:

- Meet member when arriving at the airport;
- Assist members with baggage that should be checked in;
- Escort member through security to the business lounge and take any orders.
11) On flights of Azerbaijan Airlines, the “Priority” tag is attached to the baggage of Platinum card holder. This privilege applies only to flights of Azerbaijan Airlines.
Gold membership
Status rules
1) AZAL-Miles Gold members have to earn 5000 status points during a membership year in order to maintain Gold status.
2) Gold members who do not earn 5000 status points will be downgraded to Classic status for the following year of membership.
3) Gold members, who earn 20000 status points or more in a membership year, will be upgraded to Platinum status for the following two years of membership.
4) Accrued travel points are valid for 36 months from the date of accrual to the balance.
Status benefits
1) Gold members can earn 2 travel points on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights. Points are accrued for each euro of base fare excluding taxes and airport charges.
2) Gold membership is guaranteed for one full membership year.
3) Gold members can enjoy priority boarding on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights.
4) Gold members can enjoy priority check in on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights.
5) While travelling during the member’s birthday month, member can earn double travel points on all flights.
6) Gold members enjoy priority status on reservation waiting lists where flights are full.
7) Gold card holders of AZAL-Miles frequently flyer programme together with their child and one family member (parent/ spouse or child under 12) can enjoy access to the business lounge at Heydar Aliyev Airport only by providing Gold card/membership number with their boarding passes on the international flights of “Azerbaijan Airlines” Closed Joint Stock Company.

Classic membership
Status rules
1) Passengers have to sign up to become an AZAL-Miles Classic member. As Classic status is the base membership, passengers do not need any status points to join or maintain status, although membership will be cancelled if no flight is taken over a period of 24 months.
2) AZAL-Miles Classic members, who earn 8000 status points or more in a membership year, will be upgraded to Gold status for next year of membership.
3) Classic members receive a virtual membership number via the AZAL-Miles programme mobile app and / or web site.
4) Accrued travel points are valid for 36 months from the date of accrual to the balance. Accounts with Classic status will be voided, if any scheduled flight by Azerbaijan Airlines or partner airlines participating in the accrual of points is not be registered within 24 months. The voided points cannot be restored.
Status benefits
1) Classic members can earn 1 travel point on all Azerbaijan Airlines flights. Points are accrued for each euro of base fare excluding taxes and airport charges.
2) While travelling during the member’s birthday month, member can earn double travel points on all flights.
Programme rules
Membership agreement
1.1. The Terms and Conditions below set out the contractual relationship between Azerbaijan Airlines and each individual member of AZAL-Miles programme.
Definitions
1.2. AZAL-Miles frequent flyer number
1.3. “AZAL” – Azerbaijan Airlines
1.4. The term “rewards” means free tickets or service class upgrade.
1.5. The term “status points” means the points earned while travelling on Azerbaijan Airlines flights in accordance with the table published on the website. Status points are used to determine membership level and therefore qualification for benefits offered by the programme.
1.6. The term “travel points” means the points earned while travelling on Azerbaijan Airlines flights. The amount of travel points is determined by the basic fare, excluding taxes, airport charges and membership tier. Travel points can be used by members for rewards.
Membership:
1.7. Every applicant has to be over the age of 12 to participate in the programme.
1.8. Membership in the programme is free of charge.
1.9. To apply for membership of AZAL-Miles, passenger has to register on www.azal.az or use AZAL-Miles mobile application.
1.10. In order to register it is necessary to fill in all mandatory fields, including a valid email address that will be used to confirm the registration. The specified email address will be the address that all notifications will be delivered to.
1.11. While accepting the application a membership number while be given.
1.12. Membership cards are provided only to members of Gold and Platinum status.
1.13. All new members will be automatically enrolled as Classic members and will be provided with a virtual card.
1.14. Members shall participate in the programme on an individual basis. Members are also given the opportunity to combine accounts into a single family account.
1.15. Personal account to which awarded points are collected will be given to members of AZAL-Miles programme. The account and earned points of a member will not under any circumstances be transferred and used for mutual settlements, except for members of the family who are combined in a single family account. The points will not be converted into cash.
1.16. Automatic accrual to the account of member occurs from the date of activation (registration) in the programme.
1.17. Classic status is valid for 24 months.
1.18. Gold membership is valid from the date of status upgrade for a full year from the date of registration in the program.
1.19. Platinum membership is valid from the date of status upgrade for two years from the date of registration in the program.
1.20. All correspondence will be sent to the member’s registered email address provided upon application in accordance with clause 1.10.
1.21. AZAL-Miles programme reserves the right to provide information associated with membership to all members using email or updates on website.
1.22. AZAL-Miles programme will not be responsible for late, lost or any email or mail that is misdirected.
1.23. Accrued travel points are valid for 36 months from the date of accrual to the balance. Accounts with Classic status will be voided, if any scheduled flight by Azerbaijan Airlines or partner airlines participating in the accrual of points is not be registered within 24 months. The voided points cannot be restored.
1.24. The member must notify in writing or present to office of Azerbaijan Airlines any information about changing of name, surname or passport number, presenting identity documents and confirming the changes.
1.25. If the card is lost, member must send a request to azalmiles@azal.az or contact the representative offices / sales offices of Azerbaijan Airlines. A duplicate card will be issued within 20 days from receipt of the application.
1.26. Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to exclude any member from the programme, withdraw a member’s card and cancel all the points earned if the member breaches the rules and conditions of the programme.
1.27. Where, in the sole opinion of Azerbaijan Airlines, any AZAL-Miles member violates air safety regulations, the member will forfeit their membership, in such cases, all accrued points and benefits will be withdrawn/cancelled.
Use of the membership card
1.28. Membership cards will be issued to members of Gold and Platinum status.
1.29. Membership cards will be personalised with member name and displayed on the front side of the card, together with the term of validity.
1.30. Only the member named on the card may use the card, as well as family members who were combined in a family account.
1.31. The member has to provide his membership number in the programme when purchasing air tickets or checking in for flight for automatically accrual of the points to the account.
1.32. Delivery of a membership card will take 20 days from the date of status upgrade if the status of the account is active at that moment.
Tier status
1.33. Entitlement to Gold or Platinum status is determined by the amount of status points earned during a membership year.
1.34. Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right from time to time to change the amount of status points required to maintain or attain a new tier level, and will inform all members of any such changes.
1.35. Member status will be reviewed before the anniversary of the enrolment date and before the expiry of this date. Status points collected throughout the membership year will be counted according to the table published on the website required to maintain the existing status. At the end of the membership year the status points balance will equal to zero (0).
1.36. The membership status will be changed to the next lowest status if the required amount of status points have not been earned in the previous membership year.
1.37. Membership upgrade can be achieved at any time during the membership year, upon achievement of the qualifying status points required. Membership to the next status is immediate upon reaching the required amount of status points. Azerbaijan Airlines will inform you of your upgrade and will automatically send you a membership card for the appropriate new membership status.
1.38. Upon upgrade to a new membership status, the status points balance remains valid and can be further increased through the collection of more status points. The status points balance will only be reset at the end of the membership year.
1.39. After upgrade to the next membership status, member has to earn required amount of status points in order to maintain tier for the next membership year.
Travel points
1.40. Travel points are accrued while travelling on regular flights of Azerbaijan Airlines.
1.41. Azerbaijan Airlines is pleased to offer members the opportunity to earn travel points from definite partners of the airline.
1.42. Travel points are earned for each euro according to the value of the base fare of tickets excluding taxes and airport charges.
1.43. For Gold and Platinum members, the accrual of travel points increases depending on the membership status.
1.44. In order to earn travel points a member has to present membership number while purchasing ticket or checking in for the flight.
1.45. Travel points will be added to the member’s account within 7 working days (except public holidays) after the flight was taken.
1.46. Travel points can be used to purchase reward tickets or service class upgrade on Azerbaijan Airlines flights.
1.47. Travel points added incorrectly shall be considered invalid and will be cancelled.
1.48. Members registered in the programme have the opportunity to restore their points over the past 180 days for flights committed before signing up in the programme. The interval of the last 180 days is counted from the date of sending the request for “not accrued points”.
1.49. Travel points will not be awarded:
For unused flights (including cancellation of a flight);
For free tickets;
For charter and seasonal flights;
For flights operated with partner airlines;
For the promotional or privilege (service) tickets;
For class upgrade service (if a passenger does the additional payment) during check-in at the airports or on board if there are available seats.
Status points
1.50. Status points are accrued while travelling on Azerbaijan Airlines flights.
1.51. The amount of status points are determined by the destination and the service class of ticket. The table of status points can be found at www.azal.az
1.52. Status points are earned in order to maintain or upgrade membership status.
1.53. In order to earn status points a member has to present membership number while purchasing ticket or checking in for the flight.
1.54. Status points added incorrectly will be considered invalid and will be cancelled.
1.55. Members can only earn status points from the date of their enrolment.
1.56. Status points will not be accrued:
For unused travel (including cancellation of a flight);
For free tickets;
For charter and seasonal flights;
For flights operated with partner airlines;
For the promotional or privilege (service) tickets;
For class upgrade service (if a passenger does the additional payment) during check-in at the airports or on board if there are available seats;
For the flights operated before the registration in the programme;
AZAL-Miles programme
1.57. Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to cancel or alter all or part of the AZAL-Miles programme at any time without prior notification
1.58. In case of cancellation of the programme, all points earned by members may be cancelled; Azerbaijan Airlines will notify members of changes or cancellation of the programme by email and by publishing such notification through their website.
Points expiry rules
Status points expiry:
1.59. For all members excluding Platinum members, status points expire at the end of each membership year, (the last day of the month in which member was first registered in). For Platinum members, status points expire at the end of their guaranteed a two-year membership period.
1.60. Status points cannot be transferred or shared with any other member and are personal to the member who used the purchased ticket.
1.61. Status points will not be accrued to the account of partners, friends or family members who booked/paid from the side of member.
Travel points expiry:
1.62. Accrued travel points are valid for 36 months from the date of accrual to the balance. Accounts with Classic status will be voided, if any scheduled flight by Azerbaijan Airlines or partner airlines participating in the accrual of points is not be registered within 24 months. The voided points cannot be restored.
1.63. Travel points are personal to the member who used the purchased ticket.
1.64. Travel points cannot be accrued to the balance of other members, except for family members with whom you are a member of the same account.
General Information
1.65. AZAL-Miles programme member will pay taxes and airport charges for the purchased reward ticket or service class upgrade using the points.
1.66. In the case if travel points or status points are not accrued correctly to the members account, the member will have to report about the non-accrued points through his account by filling in the required form or send a request with copies of air tickets or boarding passes. Applications for non-accrued points will be accepted from 7 working days after the flight and up to 180 days from the date of the flight.
Legal terms
1.67. Taking into account that the legislation of some countries may envisage restrictions on the application of Frequent Flyer programmes to encourage passengers, Azerbaijan Airlines, in order to comply with such legislation, reserves the right to change the legal requirements for programme members or change the programme content to meet such legislative requirements of the country without prior notice to the members.
1.68. The provision of air tickets in exchange for Travel Points is regulated by the main rules of the carrier. Azerbaijan Airlines shall not be liable for damages (material and moral) resulting from the use of such tickets with the exception of the damage caused during air travel. The damage caused in international air transport shall be reimbursed in the manner prescribed by the Warsaw Convention of 1929, as amended at The Hague in 1955, and other international treaties to which the Republic of Azerbaijan is a signatory, as well as the rules of Azerbaijan Airlines.
Reward flights
1.69. In order to purchase rewards, the member will have to apply to representative offices/sales offices of Azerbaijan Airlines.
1.70. Members are permitted to change the departure date on reward tickets before the departure only in accordance with appropriate status.
1.71. Classic, Gold and Platinum members of AZAL-Miles programme can change departure time and date of reward tickets after departure by paying 75 EUR (OW). In the case of ticket refund, points will not be restored to the balance.
1.72. A change of departure date and time for a reward ticket for Classic members before the
flight departure is allowed and is subject to a fee of €50 per flight segment.
1.73. Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to limit the number of rewards on certain or all flights.
1.74. Members reward ticket cannot be issued to any third part, only to the member who earned the travel points.
1.75. All applicable taxes and airport charges for rewards must be paid by the member.
1.76. Members may use travel points for a service class upgrade in accordance with the table of receiving rewards published on the website www.azal.az.
1.77. A service-class upgrade is possible only for paid economy class "Y" tickets. In order to upgrade service-class of purchased ticket, request have to be sent 24 hours before flight.
1.78. Travel points and status points will only be awarded for the paid portion of a service-class upgraded ticket.
1.79. Change of departure date, for tickets with the service-class upgrade, is permitted before departure only and in accordance with the respective benefits of the appropriate membership status. Fees may apply for such changes.
1.80. Service-class upgrades awarded in exchange for travel points, may not be reassigned to a third person and are for the exclusive enjoyment of the member who earned travel points.
1.81. Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to limit the number of service-class upgrade tickets on certain or all flights.
1.82. If a passenger wishes to refuse from economy or business/ comfort classes ticket which has been subsequently upgraded using travel points, it will be refunded in accordance with the standard economy or business/ comfort classes refund rules. Travel points used to class service upgrade will not be refunded to the balance. Refund of the ticket will be carried out according to the rules of economy class.
1.83. In case if a passenger purchased reward ticket with R economy or A business/comfort class wants to change service class for higher class (A or Z), so the tickets can be changed to A business/comfort or Z VIP Club classes subtracting the difference of the points between two classes.
1.84. In case if a passenger purchased reward ticket with R economy or A business/comfort class wants to change the flight date and if there is not A business/comfort class on the changed date, the passengers can change their tickets Z VIP Club class subtracting the difference of the points between two classes.
Other Provisions
1.85. In case of lost or stolen AZAL-Miles membership card the member must immediately notify Azerbaijan Airlines either in writing or using the “contact us” section of the member website. Azerbaijan Airlines will not take any responsibility for improper use of the members card.
1.86. Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to exclude from the programme Members who abuse the Member rules, provide inaccurate information.
1.87. Members excluded from the programme may be permitted to apply for new membership at the sole discretion of Azerbaijan Airlines.
1.88. In case of exclusion of a member from the programme, all the earned travel points and status points will be cancelled and will not be refunded.
Liability restrictions of Azerbaijan Airlines
1.89. Reward tickets will be provided with restrictions.
1.90. Azerbaijan Airlines reserves the right to prohibit provision of a reward flight at a certain time period and/or on certain flights.
1.91. Travel points earned by a member are not the member’s property, and therefore, will not be reassigned or invested for any other purpose.
For flights operated jointly with partner airlines of Azerbaijan Airlines
1.92. Rewards are not applied to flights operated jointly with partner airlines of Azerbaijan Airlines.
1.93. Travel points and status points cannot be earned on charter flights and flights of other airlines. AZAL-Miles programme benefits are provided only for flights operated by Azerbaijan Airlines.
Family account
1.94. Each passenger (over the age of 12) registered at AZAL-Miles programme, can create a “Family Account”.
1.95. To merge into a single “Family account”, main account should be selected, and the request will be sent by main account profile.
1.96. Family account includes parents (main account only) spouse and their children.
1.97. A request for creating a “Family Account” can be sent via a special registration form on the website www.azal.az
1.98. To create family account, the member (main account) should send the following documents:
- For parents – copy of foreign passports, certificate of birth of main account;
- For spouse – copy of foreign passport, certificate of marriage;
- For children (over the age of 12) – copy of foreign passports, certificate of birth;
For example: if the main account is father, then the following documents are required: copies of foreign passports of the parents, spouse and children. Copies of birth certificates, of father and his children.
1.99. Confirmation of “Family Account” will be received within 7 working days after sending duly filled-in request.
1.100. Only travel points are accrued into a single “Family account”, status points are accrued to each member on an individual account.
1.101. To accrue points, each family member must present his or her membership number while purchasing a ticket or at the check-in counter at the airport.
1.102. To get reward tickets on AZAL-Miles Programme, it is necessary to present the main account membership number.
1.103. If you are willing to change the main account selected earlier, you should send a request to azalmiles@azal.az with the copies of the documents mentioned above.
1.104. When adding a new member to a family account, it is necessary to send a request to azalmiles@azal.az with the copies of the documents confirming family ties (list of required documents are mentioned above).
1.105. Requests for changes in the family account will be reviewed and processed within 14 working days from the date of sending.
